Rise From Your Grave

Hello good people.

It's been a week or so since I last posted. I'm going to try and keep this one as brief as possible because I need to get up nice and early in the morning to go and do this essay that's due on Wednesday. I guess this post is basically a review of the Dragonforce gig I went to on Saturday night.

I may as well give each band a little intro and review them then I guess. I was a little apprehensive about the gig at first, not being a huge metal fan in the beginning, and the band originally on the bill, All That Remains i was quite looking forward to but they were replaced earlier in the tour or whatever with a Swedish Band called Sabaton... I was a little disheartened. So on to the reviewing.

Glamour Of The Kill - Well in all fairness to the guys, they didn't have much audience to work with. Not many people bothered to turn up for the early support acts. Saying that though, I was very impressed with what they played. I don't really know who to compare them with, i guess they're a little like Bullet For My Valentine, but Sam says they're like Avenged Sevenfold. They're now one of my favourite bands lol, i plan on seeing them in Liverpool next year. Along side that, they're really sound guys, I spoke to them at the end on the way out and they're the soundest band I've met. Shame they're from York though.

Sylosis - Me and Joe struggled to get their name right all night, Joe even called them synopsis before lol. They came on with a pretty good stage presence. Again is struggle with music comparisons, I don't seem to be able to hear comparing sections of songs etc. I likened the singers style to Atreyu in a way, plus he looked a little like Alex Varkatzas. I guess you could link it in a little with Bring Me The Horizon. They were really good too, plus again really great guys had a quick chat with guitarist, Josh or Bailey, I don't know which one, again sound guy will try to catch another of their shows.

Sabaton - The band I had no idea about. All I'd hear was through my walls from Sam's room over the past week or so, and the lyrics he shouted at me. I wasn't really looking forward to it. However, I have never seen a band with such stage presence, every single one of the band came out beaming, they had the happiest bassist ever. plus the guys bass was painted with snow camouflage, awesome. When the Singer came out... the most charasmatic lead singer ever. In fairness i'm not their biggest fan it's just not my scene but how they played I could do nothing but bow down to them.
Spoke to both guitarist on the way out and they were amazed how well it went, you could see it on their faces when they were playing though. Comparisons... ask Sam.

Dragonforce - Everyone I'd met who'd seen Dragonforce live said they were shit. Give them their due, they impressed me a lot. The now legendary skills of Herman Li i have witnessed first hand, i must say his guitar must taste good, he licked it like 7 times. They are mental on stage, I don't really know many dragonforce songs, I know Fire and Flames and Heroes Of Our Time, so i was stuck on the rest but they were still brilliant. We managed to get all of their autographs in The Ship afterwards all except ZP, the lead singer but hey, again they were really nice guys, and I shared a drink with them.

That was supposed to be short but it turned into a full on article.

Rise from you grave, and take my hand.
